Legal Advocacy at Mutual Ground

The Legal Advocacy team at Mutual Ground can assist victims and survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence obtain protective orders in Kane and Kendall County court, advocate on behalf of victims with law enforcement, States’ Attorney’s office and Circuit Clerk’s office staff. Legal Advocates can also assist victims and survivor’s file for losses through the Crime Victim Compensation Act and explain their rights under the Safe Homes Act and the Victim’s Economic, Security and Safety Act.


 

Legal Services Include:

  • Domestic Relations Orders of Protection and Civil No Contact Orders
  • Advocate on behalf of victims with law enforcement, States’ Attorney’s office and Clerks of the Circuit Clerks office
  • Assist victims and survivors file claims under the Crime Victims Compensation Act
  • Help victims and survivors navigate through the Civil and Criminal Justice system. Being present with victims and survivors during court proceedings
  • Explain the rights afforded to victims of Domestic and Sexual abuse under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act, the Safe Homes Act and the Victim’s Economic, Security and Safety Act
