Communication Campaign for Parents & Teens

What are communication campaigns?

High School Campaign

We’ve all heard the saying, “Everybody’s doing it”, right?  That is exactly the mindset that a social norm marketing campaign is trying to change!  The goal of a social norms campaign is to increase the number of students who believe the actual norm that most students are in fact making healthy decisions.  Students are involved in this campaign by giving feedback on media used for the campaign through focus groups, which are held multiple times during the school year. Some examples of the media include: posters in the school hallways, social media posts on TV monitors in the school lunchroom, stickers, bookmarks and more.  Students also have the opportunity to answer questions when our staff are at the school during lunchroom surveys.  The data from those responses helps create a newsletter displayed in the school bathrooms.

Parent Campaign

Who doesn’t need a little extra support when having tough conversations with youth?  Our parent communication campaign does just that.  Through the release of different media sources, the information given to parents on how to have conversations with their student regarding healthy choices, including the prevention of underage drinking, is invaluable. It’s important to remember, there is no perfect time to have the conversation and the conversations should be ongoing.  Situations change as youth move through their teenage years and they need to know that you are there throughout it all!
